Nadir Magsi declared best driver

KARACHI, April 18: Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010 Round 1 was held on Saturday at the Fountain Parking lot, Clifton.

Leading drivers of Pakistan's motor racing circle and winners of rally championships were the participants.

The participants started arriving at the track after 5pm; after the technical inspection of the vehicles, the drivers did a course walk of the track.

Asad Khuhro, who was the Race Director for this race, held a drivers' briefing, after which the race was flagged off by Sindh Minister Agha Siraj Durrani.

The race was tightly contested in every category. From the beginning of the first run on the track, the timings of every participant were displayed live on the timing tower.

In the end, Nadir Magsi won the A-Prepared race in the fastest time of 55.74 seconds, proving that he is the best driver in Pakistan in any format of motor racing, after winning Round 1 of the Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010.

He is also the winner of last year's Xtreme Autocross Championship, besides winning all the major rally events held in Pakistan.

Raheel Aslam was second with 57.12 seconds, while Shamyl Khuhro, with a timing of 57.57 seconds, was third.

Earlier, the A-Stock race was won by Ayub Khuhro, while B-Stock was won by Irfan Mirza.

The prize distribution ceremony was held just after the race, where there were 21 different winners across seven different categories.

The next round of Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010 will be held on May 22. This championship comprises five rounds for the 2010 season.
